The Greek poet and neoplatonist philosopher, Synesius, was born circa 370 in Cyrene. He became bishop of Ptolemais around 410, some nine years after converting to Christianity. His works include Concerning Providence, Concerning Dreams, Hymns, and a burlesque piece entitled The Praise of Baldness.
